Summer is the best of all times when you're kid, and if you're a kid with an artistic or performing arts aspirations visiting Salt Spring, a plethora of activities will ensure this is the place you dream about far into adulthood.

* Clay Camp at Creative Fire Studio teaches hand-building techniques to kids ages 7 and up. Fun things like monkey mugs and toucan jugs are on the list to do this year, inspired by the jungles of Costa Rica. This year's camps run July 12-16 and August 9-13. * Fiddle Camp unites skilled musician instructors with adult and youth students for collaborative learning and community building with Fiddleworks. This year's dates are July 19-23 and August 16-20. www.fiddleworks.ca

* Acoustic Planet Music Studio offers musical workshops for kids. Call 250-537-9668 for this year's program or drop by the store at 150 Fulford-Ganges Road.

* Fables Cottage, the island's bookstore and craft supply centre for kids, offers free crafting workshops throughout the summer. Visit the store on Hereford Avenue in Ganges for details. Phone number is 250-537-0028.

* Salt Spring's public library hosts StoryTime on Friday afternoons and also has a summer reading club. Visit the library on McPhillips Avenue in Ganges for details.
